A leading manufacturer’s response to the MHCLG Building a Safer Future Implementation Plan

In the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire, it became apparent that a complete review and reform of the building and fire safety regulatory system was needed. The results of the independent review of building regulations and fire safety, led by Dame Judith Hackett, called upon the Government to develop an implementation plan that will provide a coherent approach to delivering the recommendations in her Review. The Building a Safer Future Implementation Plan was that plan setting out how Government and the industry aimed to achieve the systematic overhaul required to improve building and fire safety.

Brian Sofley, Managing Director of a leading manufacturer of steel fire doors and member of the DHF Steel Door Group, presents the measures highlighted in the Implementation plan that will significantly contribute towards the aims of consistent legislative powers and the ongoing effective enforcement of construction product safety. Brian also presents a steel door manufacturers approach to ensuring fire safety through correct specification, professional installation, inspection, repair and maintenance.
